Our home is a total loss, which is more than 100% of what we paid. So much water is under the foundation that from March 2018 to November 2018, the entire house heaved up 1-2 inches causing rafters to split apart and the roof to start "twisting" up off the house. There is evidence throughout the house and outside of serious movement. Coventry Homes - Everyone was so helpful during the entire process.
Don't look to the BBB for an accurate picture of how this company treats their homeowners...check other sites, look deep because it's an ugly mess and sadly, our story is not isolated. The common tactic reported by other homeowners and experienced by us was well, is to blame the homeowner for whatever warranty issue arises. Since December of 2020 we have had non stop major issues with our home and the warranty company is refusing to provide approval to fix. The house is great and we love the neighborhood. Blair did a wonderful job of communicating with us the whole way through the process. Gabe has done and continues to do a wonderful job supporting us through “after closing” warranty process making sure we are happy. Danny was an exceptional sale consultant during my trying journey of acquiring a new home.
The experience with Derek from the very beginning was great. He responded quick & gave updates in a timely manner. People who write reviews have ownership to edit or delete them at any time, and they’ll be displayed as long as an account is active.

The paint they used had a different finish and therefore does not match the other paint and is easy to see exactly where the touchups were done. We waited until the end of the 2 year period to make a list of things to fix, only to find out that anything that was a mistake or "bad workmanship" is not covered under their warranty. In other words they do not cover their own work and do not back the contractors they have working for them. The only thing they honored for the warranty, was items that were covered by a third party, like the HVAC system. So if you are going to buy a Coventry Home, do not believe them when they tout the 2 year fit and finish warranty, it is absolutely not what they say it is. Then after they denied my warranty claim, the manager would not even pick up the phone to call me about it, he made a guy that had just started working for them deliver the news.
The process was great although stressful at times but I now understand perfection can’t be rushed. He was responsive to our questions and always made us feel at ease. The builder Trevor, was easy to talk to and explained everything in our home clearly during the walk through.

Like I said above we are not satisfied with the house. Our shower would leaked water all over the floor, in the game room upstairs when you walk around it creaks A LOT like the sub floor is weak and will give way. The lights flicker continuously, not all the outlets worked. Even building during a global pandemic they were amazing!!
The standard floor plan is excellent and met my needs with very few changes. After 6 weeks of living in the home, I only had one warranty item that needed to be addressed, simple garage door adjustment, which is remarkable for new construction. I would recommend this builder to my friends and family. Very poor builder and use all the wrong contractors to build homes. They look for the cheapest contractor and their work shows exactly what they pay for.

But, the next time I walked into the home, they had painted the trim, installed flooring and moved on. When I inquired, they told me that opening the interior was not an option, but that they would add mouldings "purely as a concession". The corbels on the home are also smaller than those shown on the website, and they refused to change them. We are carrying two mortgages; two sets of utilities, homeowners insurance, HOA dues and taxes in addition to paying legal fees just to have MHI honor their contract. Something honorable builders do without hesitation.
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation regulates HVAC and electrical contractors. You should verify their license status on the TDLR Website before hiring. General contractors and home builders are not licensed so you should do additional research before hiring one.
The construction manager has never reached out to offer assistance. We still having items that need fixing to include a giant leak from a tub, doors that don't close and electrical problems to name a few. Sales team and construction manager were great.
They have neglected all my requests despite of having my attorney copied. I am writing this to make sure no one suffers from these people. ALLEN, TEXAS -- Horrible experience, do not buy here. They mislead you to close and never care afterwards. I am an existing homeowner and my experience in dealing with sales office and the builder is less than pleasant. I closed on a house which was less than finish on the day of closing.
Minor issues that should have been taken care of before closing. Not sure what your inspection program is for closing a house out to sell but it needs some serious re-thinking. We had a great experience working with Coventry. They made understanding this process so easy (especially as first-time home buyers). At the end of the process, we had a third-party inspection done before closing, and the inspector barely had a report at all.
